Lessons learned from travel production pt. 2

Pack light & familiar.

Filming Amelia Earhart’s lost cabin in the mountains around Kirwin, Wyoming required a bumpy 4x4 drive 2 hours up the ravine followed by a mile hike with bear spray in each crew member’s hands.

When shooting on the road, reliability and familiarity are key and it’s not the time you want to be troubleshooting anything technical.

Build systems and rigs that you know like the back of your hand and stick to them. Feeling confident and undistracted from your subject matter will always outweigh the small benefits of a new kit.
